Pedro Castro was born in Porto in 1977. He graduated at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (Pedro Couto Soares) and at the Royal Conservatorium in The Hague (Sébastien Marq: recorder, and Ku Ebbinge: baroque oboe). He finished his Tesis in Musical Arts at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He has held a grant from the Centro Nacional de Cultura. He performs regularly with Al Ayre Español, Les Talens Lyriques, Divino Sospiro, Capela Real, Orquestra barroca de Sevilla, Flores de Música, Sete Lágrimas, Quarteto Arabesco, A Imagem da Melancolia and Músicos do Tejo. As a soloist he has performed with the Orquestra Capela Real the Oboe Concerto of A. Marcello, the doble Concerto for violin and oboe of J.S. Bach and, with the Orquestra Divino Sospiro, the Concerto per oboe d'amore of J.S. Bach. He also plays classical repertoire with the Quarteto Arabesco. He has conducted works of Portuguese contemporary composers (João de Sousa Carvalho). He is the artistic director of the Concerto Campestre. Pedro is a teacher of recorder, baroque oboe and chamber music at the Academia de Música de Santa Cecília, the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo and the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. He loves opera, cooking, biking, bodyboarding and good and clever humor.
